Wow … he’s got a very characteristic style, doesn’t he? I imagine you could distinguish his paintings as a Brooks quite easily.

Yes PPGG, he has a very strong stroke (coup de pinceau). His world takes over. His humor helps to bear his observations.

Well put. How did you come across his work?

When you were the Guest of the week at Ben’s, we were both among the “links of the week”.

They are great. They remind me a little of Paula Rego’s work. She is one of my favourite artists.

I had visited the Saatchi-Saatchi gallery before the fire. They had a great collection. I remember the work of an artist using few pints of his own blood turned into an ice-sculpture.
I like a lot Rego’s work. Thanks for the link.

    Thank you Amina 🙂
Fortunately there are so many interesting people to make this site “cool”. Very often I don’t want to make a new post, now for instance. I like to open this page and see this painting. It’s a pity to bring all these talented people, as well as Somalia, to a second page.

When I was a kid my parents had a Harry Belefonte record. On it was a song containing the words:

With one eye on the pot and the other up the chimney

The image it made in my mind is similar to this painting!

That frozen blood sculpture was very cool. If I remember correctly, he had taken eight pints of his own blood (which is how much blood we have in our body) over a few days and had made a sculpture of his own head with it.

BB2, somehow the distortion of the head with these eyes are familiar to us. Also the disproportions of the body.
Salam Alibaba! I have a few post prepared about the music… but this slow connexion, it takes time for me to select the music.
Shirin-banoo, I guess this sculpture has melted with the fire! Another painting I liked in Saatchi’s gallery was ” The Patron”, by Ashley Bickerton.
