With the slogan “poverty is political,” War on Want focuses on the root causes of poverty rather than its effects, challenging the power structures which they believe keep people poor.

    Nice site, I shall have to link them at the Lair as well.

    Here the city is about to shut down the tent city, they have made provisions elsewhere for the people, but it is questionable how many will take up the offers. They are threatening to arrest those who don’t leave.

    Thanks BB2, looked at it yesterday. Going back right now. Last night I saw Detroit’s picture, many neighborhoods look like a ghost town.

    I started out today with my “rant” about poverty in British Columbia. Changing the name from the “War on Poverty” to the “War on Wealth” I suggested a “Tariff on Financial Obesity”. The “robin Hood Tax” not only embodies my sentiments but is a major step in the creation of a fair, just and balanced world.
